FAQ’s

Here are some frequently asked questions that will help you plan for your project.

How long should it take for my driveway to dry and be useable?

You should make plans to be off your driveway for 48 hours. It will take 24 hours for the driveway to cure and we recommend another 24 hours to assure that the driveway is completely dry.

What do I need to do to my driveway prior to having it sealed?

Absolute Blacktop will arrive with all of our equipment on the day we begin your project so the driveway needs to be completely clear. Also, please make sure vehicles or other valuables are not stored right next to the driveway as there is always a possibility of sealant splashing. Driveways should be fairly clean of debris and dirt.

How cold is too cold for driveway sealing?

Pavement sealers are best applied when the temperatures are a MINIMUM of 55 degrees and RISING and do not fall below 50 degrees for 48 hours after application. We will contact you the night before if it looks like the temperature is unfavorable for work to be done at your home.

What happens if it rains on my freshly sealed driveway?

The sealer must be dry before it rains or it may wash off. Rain can wash the sealer off if it rains right after its put on. Normally expect to allow at least 24 hours before any rain.

Do I need to be home when you sealcoat my driveway?

No. You do not need to be present for any of our services. Since your driveway is easily accessible, we can estimate, prepare, and seal your driveway while you are at work or on vacation.
